Mould and Bacteria

Our Microbial Services

Mould, fungal spores and bacteria all occur naturally in the environment in a balanced relationship. However, water related building issues often produce conditions that lead to hazardous levels of mould and/or bacteria, these issues may include:

  • Blocked drains,
  • Burst pipes,
  • Roofing damages,
  • Floor flooding,
  • Sewer overflow, or
  • Any water ingress related issues.

Water ingress issues that damage or soak building material for longer than 48hrs can lead to the colonisation of hazardous mould that has the ability to proliferate and contaminated multiple areas of a building.

It is essential to have an understanding of building science, microbial species distribution, spore count and restoration techniques to complete a risk assessment of each site specific scenario. In lack of a national guideline on mould sampling and thresholds Nviro continues to adopt the latest overseas industry standards and scientific literature findings, to ensure our conclusions and recommendations include the upmost safety and accuracy.

Nviro has years of experience in undertaking risk assessments for private and commercial scale microbial assessments. Our Occupational Hygiene team provides the following services for mould and bacteria assessments:

  • Visual Assessments and Moisture Reading Analysis,
  • Airborne Mould Sampling and Analysis,
  • Surface Mould Sampling and Analysis,
  • Surface E.Coli and Coliforms Sampling and Analysis,
  • Microbial Property Inspection and Risk Assessment Report,
  • Post Remediation Evaluation Reports, and
  • Post Remediation Validation Reports.
